Summit 2022 postponement and invitation to the CRIsim.summit pre-event!

Unfortunately, we have due to various internal and external circumstances and pressures, chosen to postpone our summit concept to the next academic year. 

We will however host the CRIsim.summit pre-event on the 11th of April 2022.

The NCF CRIsim.summit 2022 is a concept conference to provide youth with the tools to gain an improved understanding of governance and decision-making

For a complete day, 11th April 2022, Leeuwarden will be the centre of high-level keynotes, panel and plenary debates and participatory workshop on topics surrounding our mission for reinforcing and making Youth Engagement in Crisis Mangagement and Disaster Response and Facilitation of Resilience accessible to students and young professionals. It will be an opportunity for about 20-40 people from different perspectives and schooling to come together and learn from each other as well as experts on the topics.

Meet The Speakers

Jacob van 't Slot

Jacob is a consultant with over two decades of experience in the field of psychology, security- & crisis management and crisis communications, as well as training crisis response on behalf of the government or privately.

Advisor of crisis management teams of a high number of (I)NGO’s & human rights organisations, governmental and corporate clients during and in the recovery process of critical incidents.

H.E. Raiz Hamidullah

His Excellency Riaz has been serving as part of the Bangladesh Foreign Service for 26 yrs, where a good part of his career was orientated around multilateral economic diplomacy for Bangladesh.

 

Since July 2020, he has held the position of the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Netherlands, with concurrent accreditation to Bosnia & Herzegovina and Croatia as also Perm. Rep. to ICJ, ICC, OPCW in The Hague.

Dr Ronan Mcdermott

Dr Ronan is an Assistant Professor in Climate Adaptation Governance at Campus Fryslan, University of Groningen and worked at University of Nottingham and University College Dublin prior to joining the University of Groningen.


Ronan's research interests concern how disaster risk governance interacts with broader social, economic and political contexts. He has undertaken field research in collaboration with academic, NGO and Red Cross/Red Crescent actors in Colombia, Indonesia, Ireland and Kenya.

Joel Gräff

Joel is a Bachelor's student in Global Responsibility and Leadership at Campus Fryslân and the creator and founder of CRIsim. He is highly engaged as a project assistant, partnership and PR relationship officer, having worked for research groups and NGOs in South Africa, US, Germany and the Netherlands.

His research interests are youth-based participatory knowledge infrastructures, especially when related to disaster risk management.

Sander Chan

Sander Chan, PhD, is a senior researcher at the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) and associated researcher at the German Development Institute/Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE). He is an adjunct assistant professor at Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University.

 

He conducts research on the role of nonstate actors and transnational cooperation in climate change governance and is an advocate for global governance towards a greener, fairer and resilient future for all.

Joseph Moses

Joseph Moses was born and raised in South India. He is currently a Master’s student at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and is a keen observer of international events, Eurasian politics and the conflicts in the Caucasus and Anatolia.

 

As a researcher at the
International Team for the Study of Security Verona (ITSS Verona), he focuses on South-East Asian politics.
He has a background in Political Science and International Relations and is the author of peer-reviewed journal publications focussing on maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region.
